Mrs. Frances Lambert Irons, 87, a native of Crawfordsville, died Wednesday in Clinton, Iowa, after an illness of two years. Mrs. Irons was the widow of Robert B. Irons, former superintendent of schools in Mason City, Iowa. She had resided at Mason City for 40 years before moving two years ago to Clinton. Mrs. Irons was a member of the First Congregational Church at Mason City, the Mason City Women's Club and PEO Sisterhood. She was born in Crawfordsville Nov. 11, 1885, a daughter of Clay and Helen Lambert. She married Robert C. Irons Dec. 28, 1908 at Crawfordsville. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Kenneth Neu of Des Moines and Mrs. Bernard M. Jacobsen and Mary Elizabeth Irons, both of Clinton; a son, Robert B. Jr, of Tryon, N.C.; a sister, Mrs. Seymour Berkson of New York City; a brother, Col. Kent C. Lambert of Brandt Beach, N.J.; eight grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1950; a brother, Ward "Piggy" Lambert, former Purdue University basketball coach, and a sister, Grayce Lambert of Crawfordsville. Private funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in First United Methodist Church at Crawfordsville with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery. - jlr
